PHOENIX – A fight between two roommates ended in gunfire at a North Phoenix hotel early Wednesday morning.
It happened in the neighborhood of 27th Avenue and Yorkshire Drive. Police received a 911 call reporting several gunshots in the area at about 3 a.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, a Budget Suites that specializes in extended stays, they found one man who had been shot at least twice, reportedly in the neck and the abdomen. That man was rushed to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
A second man was treated at the scene. Investigators were talking to him to try and determine exactly what happened.
What police know so far is that the two men were roommates at the hotel. The pair got into an argument early Wednesday morning. That fight ended when one of them pulled a gun and started shooting.
It’s not yet known what that argument was about or why it escalated. Investigators are trying to figure out if the shooting might have been self defense.
Police said the two men were the only ones involved in the incident. There were no other injuries and there is nobody outstanding.
Investigators have not released the name of either man.
