April is Child Abuse Prevention MonthPosted: Updated:
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and a chance for us to give a voice to those who haven’t found theirs yet.
“Child abuse continues to be a significant issue in Arizona and a threat to far too many of our children,” said Damita Curry, the marketing diretor for Crisis Nursery.
Crisis Nursery is the Valley’s longest-serving children's shelter. The group is promoting National Child Abuse Prevention Month to help spread the word about services available to families in the community.
The organization will kick off its awareness efforts with The Friends of Crisis Nursery Annual Spring Benefit. The benefit is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, at Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa.
The benefit will include an auction and dinner. Auction items include an original Beatles artwork and a 2010 Volkswagen Beetle Coupe. All proceeds will benefit programs that provide a lifeline for parents with the courage to ask for help and a safe haven for more than 1,000 children this year when emergencies arise or stressors become too much to bear.
The Crisis Nursery, Inc. is located at 2334 E. Polk St. in Phoenix. For more information on services they offer or to buy tickets for the April 9 benefit, go to www.crisisnurseryphx.org
