Impairment factor in early morning fatal pedestrian accidentPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - A pedestrian was hit by a car early Saturday morning and impairment is a likely factor in the fatal crash.
Around 12:30 a.m., Gilberto Contreras-Lopez was crossing Indian School Road at 10th Street when he was struck by a four-door Volkswagen driven by a 28-year-old man.
Contreras-Lopez was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
When investigators arrived on scene, they evaluated the driver and believe impairment was a factor in the fatal crash.
No word from Phoenix police on any charges that might be filed against the driver.
