Tucson headlines: Apartment fire; Pedestrian hit; Inmate dies; Child porn sentencing

TUCSON, Ariz. -- An upstairs fire in an apartment complex near Stone and Yavapai left a couple people without a home Wednesday night.

The fire started shortly after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.  Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused it. The upstairs and downstairs units were destroyed.  The fire department say it's lucky no one was injured.

The woman living downstairs has a 6-month-old baby.  Both are doing okay and the Red Cross is putting them up in a hotel for now.

Also Wednesday a 7-year-old boy on the east side suffered serious burns after he set fire to the brush in his backyard.  He should recover.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A pedestrian was badly hurt on the west side Wednesday afternoon, after being hit by a car.

It happened near St. Mary's and Silverbell during the afternoon rush hour. Traffic was backed up for some time.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- An inmate at the Pima County jail died, after swallowing a plastic bag with containing drugs.

A guard saw 47-year-old Michael Judge acting suspiciously in his cell Tuesday morning.

When they checked on him, judge tried to swallow the bag and assaulted officers.

He stopped breathing and guards used CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver, AEDs to try and revive him while waiting for paramedics.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson man convicted of child pornography has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison.

Jason Farineau was sharing the images over the Internet involving kids as young as 3-years-old.

He claimed he wasn't living at the home at the time and didn't know the files were on his computer.

When he's released from prison, Farineau will have to register as a sex offender.
