Ready or not, record heat is herePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Just one week into spring, and it feels a lot more like summer!
A strong ridge of high pressure has been building across the West. As it strengthens and shifts east over Arizona, we'll see out hottest temperatures of the year so far today and tomorrow.
Look for mostly sunny skies, and a record-tying high of 94 degrees today.
Tomorrow, we could break the record of 96 degrees in the Valley, and Yuma could see 100 degrees.
Saturday's forecast for the Valley looks nearly as warm with highs in the mid-90s.
Sunday, a low-pressure system should drop down out of the Gulf of Alaska, bringing a drop in temperatures and partly cloudy skies. We could also see breezy to locally windy conditions, with a slight chance of rain and snow in the high country.
Next week's forecast looks to bring warmer-than-average afternoon temperatures, but it looks like we'll stay in the 80s.
