Fire tears though Glendale home undergoing renovationsPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Investigators are trying to determine what sparked an early morning house fire in Glendale.
Crews were called out to the home near 56th Lane and Olive Avenue at about 6 a.m.
Huge flames shooting from the garage were visible for quite some distance. The news helicopter captured the incredible scene on video.
Firefighters said the home was empty because it was undergoing some remodeling. Once they knew nobody was inside, firefighters went defensive, tackling the massive flames from outside and above the fire.
Crews were able to get the blaze under control relatively quickly, containing most of the damage to the garage and the immediately adjacent portion of the house.
It's not clear if the renovation work had anything to do with the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Olive Avenue was closed in the area while firefighters dealt with the fire and the cleanup. The street has since reopened.
