Tucson police investigate southside double shootingPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ -- Gunfire broke out Tuesday morning in a south side Tucson apartment complex, killing one man and injuring another.
Police say it happened in a complex at 2800 South Mission Road, near Ajo Way.
When police arrived, they found spent bullets and blood on the ground, but no victims. Talking to witnesses, they got a description of one vehicle which had fled the scene. An officer on routine patrol spotted it northbound on Mission and followed it to St. Mary's hospital. Inside was one shooting victim.
The second victim was found in a vehicle near Interstate 19 and Ajo Way. The man's wife was apparently trying to drive him to Kino Hospital for treatment when she flagged down a Tucson police vehicle. That man was taken to University Medical Center in what was described as "life threatening" condition. He later died.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
