PHOENIX -- Temperatures are forecast to soar this week across Arizona.
The average high temperature for Phoenix this time of year is 79 degrees, but we'll be about 15 degrees above that by the end of the week.
Tuesday's forecast puts the Valley back in the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies.
A ridge of high pressure builds and continues the warming trend through Friday when temperatures are forecast to top out near 96 degrees, which is the record for April 1.
Fortunately, the heat won't last long, although the weekend will still be warm.
Saturday holds a high in the low 90s, while temperatures should come back to the 80s Sunday and early next week.
It won't be long until we're talking about that triple-digit heat in the deserts.
