Man arrested after allegedly running over ex-girlfriend in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A man accused of running over his ex-girlfriend Monday night has been arrested.

Police said the 37-year-old victim was run over by her ex-boyfriend, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Botti, near Hayden and Osborn roads in Scottsdale.

Botti, 31, a resident of Mesa, was taken into custody Tuesday night.

Witnesses told officers that the couple were arguing as they walked to the suspect's vehicle at the Sunscape Villas apartment complex.

Police said the victim and suspect recently lived together, but she moved to the apartment complex after a recent breakup.

The victim was seen holding on to the left outside mirror as the suspect backed out of the parking space. The woman was run over by the suspect's vehicle as he fled the complex.

The woman, whose name has not been released, remains in serious condition at a local hospital. According to court documents, she is in intensive care with severe brain swelling.

Botti was charged with endangerment and leaving an accident with death or injury.
