Fatal end to northwest SWAT situationPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- It was a scary Sunday morning for some northwest side neighbors after authorities fatally shot a man during a stand-off outside his home.
At around 9:00 Sunday morning officers got a call about a suicidal person on the 3200 block of West Calle Fresa.
When they got there, they found 44-year-old James Runyon outside his home holding a gun.
The Pima Regional SWAT team responded to the scene and while trying to resolve the situation they shot at Runyon.
"I came out to get my newspaper and when I did, an undercover agent ran out to the neighbors side yard and told me I needed to go inside. That there was a serious situation down the street," said a neighbor.
Runyon went to the hospital with a single gun shot wound. He died at the hospital. The investigation is on-going.
