Arizona unemployment unchanged; Race, sex abortion bill on Brewer's deskPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona's unemployment holding at 9.6% last month. The Arizona Department of Commerce Thursday released its figures for February, showing a fourth straight month with no change.
It's down from February of last year when the jobless rate topped 10%.
But Tucson showed signs of improvement, with an 8.8% rate in February, down from 9.2% the month before.
And a controversial abortion bill is now on Governor Jan Brewer's desk.
The Arizona House of Representatives approved Thursday the measure that would make our state the first in the nation to ban abortions based on the race or sex of a fetus.
Planned Parenthood insists those criteria don't enter into the decision at its clinics.
Governor Jan Brewer has not said whether she will sign the bill.
