PHOENIX -- A 23-year-old man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a teenage driver was sentenced Friday.

Judge Michael Kemp sentenced Steven Landrum, of the Gila River Indian Community, to 11 years in prison.

Landrum was driving westbound through the intersection of Ray and Rural roads when he struck a vehicle driven by Cody Bishop, 18, on May 6.

The Corona del Sol High School senior died a few days later.

At the time of the accident, Chandler police found Landrum to be under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit when he was behind the wheel.
