Grijalva hosts funding forum for students who served in the militaryPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Congressman Grijalva met Thursday with University of Arizona students who've served in the military.
Grijalva held a roundtable with about 30 members of the U of A's Veterans Education and Transition Services.
The meeting discussed upcoming budget negotiations and ways to keep the campus program going in the face of expected cuts.
"Most student veterans will start but never finish their degree and that's one thing that we turned around here at the U of A and that's one thing we want to support with other universities throughout the United States," said U of A Student and Veteran Kimberly Shroyer.
The U of A's VETS program received national chapter-of-the-year honors in 2010. Grijalva successfully pursued funding for a similar VETS program.
