Skeletal remains discovered near Phoenix freewayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - Dozens of police officers were working a scene overnight in central Phoenix recovering skeletal remains discovered by an ADOT worker.
Forensics crews were called to a storm drain near northbound Interstate 10 and Van Buren Street to recover what Phoenix police believe to be human remains.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, this particular location has not been checked for a number of years.
The location where the remains were found is approximately 70 feet underground.
ADOT confirmed a maintenance staff member came upon the remains late Wednesday evening.
It is unknown what the cause of death was or the sex of the victim.
