Child in critical condition after being pulled from poolPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - A 1-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was pulled from a backyard swimming pool on Tuesday afternoon.
The Phoenix Fire Department was called to a home near 58th Avenue and Indian School Road just after 1 p.m.
Officials said the child was not breathing when paramedics arrived. The boy was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital by ambulance.
"There were several adults home and some other children, I don't know how many exactly were in the home," Phoenix Capt. Scott Walker said. "A lot of activity was going on here today...guess somebody else arrived at the home and several adults went out to greet them when this child was somehow able to get out of an open door."
The pool did not have a fence around it.
