Tucson headlines: I-10 ramps closed; Gas prices; Rail to Phoenix

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tuesday night starting at 7 P.M. the on and off ramps to Palo Verde Road and the Alvernon Way off ramp will be closed.

ADOT is working on a repaving project to make the stretch of interstate from Kino to Valencia smoother.

There will be signage directing you to the detours.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pump prices just keep rising. A gallon of regular unleaded in the Old Pueblo now goes for $3.34 on average.

The highest we found was $3.64, the lowest $3.21.

But Tucson residents pay less than elsewhere.   Arizona's statewide average has hit $3.49, with the national number four cents higher.

Still, we're far from the all-time national record of $4.11 a gallon, set July 2008.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The state has moved another step forward toward a high-speed rail link between Tucson and Phoenix.

The state transportation board Monday unanimously adopted the "State Rail Plan" designed to cut down on pollution and traffic congestion.

No word on a time table or an exact route but the Tucson-Phoenix line would be just the beginning of a statewide railway system.

Over 11,000 people make the trip between Tucson and Phoenix every day and that number is expected to triple by 2050.
