PHOENIX – Police are searching for two suspects who held up a North Phoenix convenience store early Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 1:30 a.m. at the Circle K at 26th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

According to police, the suspects – males in their 20s -- walked up to the counter with some alcohol. They then pulled a gun on the clerk and demanded cigarettes.

Then two men fled the scene on foot before reportedly stealing a Camaro.

The Phoenix police helicopter was nearby at the time, and spotted the car speeding through the neighborhood near the Circle K.

The helicopter led officers on the ground to the scene, which was about a mile north of the store. By the time they got there, the suspects had ditched the car and disappeared.

Officers set up a perimeter and, with the help of police dogs, scoured the area. So far, those suspects have not been found.

In addition, investigators have not yet found the owner of the stolen Camaro.

The clerk at the convenience store was not injured.

No other details about the suspects were immediately available.

If you have any information about the suspects or the stolen car, you are asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151.
