Purim festival in north TucsonPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Chabad House on River Road hosted a Purim Festival Sunday that featured all sorts of food, plus fun and games for the kids.
The holiday of Purim celebrates the salvation of the Jewish people from the Persian empire centuries ago.
"There was a decree to annihilate all the Jews in all the kingdoms of King Ahasuerus, at the time. And with time God saved the Jews and, instead of them being annihilated they, ever, ever, to destroy their enemies," said Rabbi Ram Bigelman.
The festival also included a traditional reading of the Magillah.
