Mesa: Plane crashes into another during hard landingPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. - A plane had a hard landing at Mesa's Falcon Field after doing a go-around and attempting a second landing.
The plane with three people and two dogs on board hit some turbulence prior to touchdown Saturday.
The pilot tried to power up and go around, but the engine stalled and the plane skidded off the runway and into the parking ramp where it hit another plane about to be boarded.
The three people waiting to board that plane heard the noise and ran for cover. Their plane bounced 50 feet after being struck.
No one in the plane or on the ground was injured, but it is likely both planes were totaled.
According to the planes' owners, the plane that landed hard is worth about $290,000 and the plane on the ground is a $220,000 loss.
The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation into what caused the plane to crash.
