Jaguar XJ: More fun than a car ought to bePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Scott Pasmore says the new 2011 Jaguar XJ is one of the nicest sedans he’s ever driven, and he’s not alone in his assessment.
Even though the car just came out, AAA has already picked it as a favorite over all of the other luxury cars, including Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, and BMW.
“That’s something to say, because Jaguar has really neglected this car for 40 years,” AAA’s Jim Prueter said.
Pasmore said the interior, with its suede, leather, carbon fiber or wood, and chrome, is beautiful.
The XJ features keyless entry, keyless start, Virtual Instruments, a 12.3-inch screen that replaces the traditional instrument cluster, a color HD touch screen with navigation and dual-zone climate control, among other things.
“I think it’s absolutely a perfect blend of performance and luxury,” Prueter said. “This car is just an amazing car.” With 385 horses standard, it’s fast and it’s powerful. You have the option to go up to 510.
“You could buy this car just on its looks alone and not be disappointed,” Prueter said. “It’s more fun than a car ought to be.”
The price starts at $72,000 for the entry-level model. The model Pasmore got to drive, with 470 horsepower, is $90,000. Prueter said Jaguar also makes a long version of the XJ.
