Arizona Senate approves Republican budget planPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Senate late Wednesday approved a budget-balancing plan with spending cuts in health care, education and other services that majority Republicans called overdue to fit state spending to state revenue.
The Senate approved the main bill in the 13-bill package on a 21-9 vote along party lines as Democrats said the cuts go too far.
After waiving public-notice rules Tuesday, the Senate considered the package from start to finish on Wednesday.
Passage sends the budget plan to the House where majority Republicans have said they like much of the Senate plan.
