PHOENIX – Two men were arrested after allegedly opening fire outside a Phoenix liquor store.

Police say an officer patrolling the area Tuesday afternoon saw someone fire a gun from a small SUV towards a liquor store on 31st Avenue and Roosevelt.

“The officer who actually viewed the shooting take place flipped around and got in right behind the vehicle and he actually observed the passenger of the vehicle pointing the weapon outside the vehicle firing rounds," Phoenix Lt. Aaron Thomas said.

The suspects were taken into custody after a brief police pursuit. One of the men had a bloodied face at the time of his arrest but it is unclear how he was injured.

The motive for the shooting has not been released. Police say they didn’t find shooting victims following the gunfire.

Investigators plan to review surveillance video at the liquor store.
