Wildcats looking to start new NCAA streakPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona is back in the NCAA tournament, looking to start another streak.
The 18th-ranked Wildcats are the fifth seed in the West Regional and will open the tournament against No. 12 seed Memphis on Friday in Tulsa, Okla.
Arizona missed the NCAA tournament last season, ending its streak at 25 years in a row. The Wildcats turned it around this season behind Pac-10 player of the year Derrick Williams and a deep supporting cast.
Arizona has won 27 games, won the Pac-10 regular-season title and got to the tournament title game, losing to Washington on a last-second shot by Isaiah Thomas.
Memphis won 25 games and earned the automatic berth out of Conference-USA by beating UTEP by one in the conference title game.
