Tombstone man arrested after mother's skeletal remains foundPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- An autopsy is scheduled Monday for the skeletal remains of a woman found inside her Tombstone home.
Tombstone Marshals arrested 34-year-old Timothy Fattig Wednesday after they got a call to do a welfare check on his 68-year-old mother, Jill Fattig.
After failing to get a response from Jill Fattig's home officers talked to Timothy Fattig who initially claimed his mother was in a Tucson hospital. He eventually admitted his mother had actually died a year ago.
Timothy Fattig claims he was so distraught by his mother's death he simply closed and locked her door and never reported it.
Fattig is now booked in the Cochise County Jail on suspicion of negligent homicide charges.
If the death is ruled by natural causes, he'll likely be charged with failure to report a death.
