San Diego Zoo Safari Park

PHOENIX -- The San Diego Zoo Safari Park kicked off a tour in Phoenix Friday to offer people a sneak peek at this unique travel destination.

The 1,800-acre Safari Park is home to more than 2,000 animals, all of which roam freely.

Just 30 miles north of downtown San Diego, the Safari Park offers families an affordable alternative to a trip to Asia or Africa and the opportunity to experience a real safari adventure first-hand. Visitors can experience the Safari Park by tram, photo-caravan, Segway or Flightline and at the same time, be up close and personal with giraffes, rhinoceros, lions and others in their natural habitat. Particularly exciting this summer is the chance to experience Cheetah Run where visitors can see firsthand the speed and wonder of this majestic animal.

Rick Schwartz told 3TV's Tara Hitchcock all about it, with the help of a very large snake and an 18-month-old cheetah.
