Border news: Nogales pot bust; Consulate murder arrests; Border discussion on the Hill

Posted: Updated:

A major marijuana bust in Nogales.  Border patrol and customs agents found more than 11,000 pounds of pot, all of it seized from two trailers. The drugs have an estimated street value of $6.6 million.

And a crackdown on border gangs in Texas includes the arrest of several suspects wanted for the murders last year of U.S. Consulate worker Leslie Redelfs and her husband Ruben in Juarez. The couple was gunned down while returning to the U.S. from a child's birthday party.   Their baby daughter in the back seat survived.

Getting the border between Mexico and the United States under control has been a topic of conversation on Capitol Hill for months.

Wednesday, Senators from Texas and Arizona pushed for even more to be done to stop the violence on the border.

And some progress is being made.
