Trace Adkins The Lincoln LawyerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Country singer Trace Adkins joins an all-star cast – Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo, Ryan Phillipe and William H. Macy – in a new movie called “The Lincoln Lawyer.”
Adkins checked in with Tara Hitchcock, who adores his voice, live via satellite to talk about the movie and about his acting career.
“I’m not even a fan of my singing, so I’m certainly not going to be a fan of my acting,” Adkins said, who once commented that he was “no Philip Seymour Hoffman.” “What I meant by the Philip Seymour Hoffman reference is that I’m not going to pull of every role. To steal a Clint Eastwood line, ‘A man has to know his limitations,’ and I think I know mine.
“I’m going to have to be selective in the roles that I go after. This was one I thought I could pull off. … This is the biggest film I’ve ever been a part of.”
Adkins said McConaughey went out of his way to make him feel comfortable his first day on the set.
“He wanted me to do well,” Adkins. “He took the time to rehearse the scenes with me, and he didn’t have to do that. I appreciated it.”
Adkins said that with the exception of one far-off shot, he did all of his own stunts and motorcycle work. “The Lincoln Lawyer” opens March 18.
