MESA, Ariz. – The Savvy Sale, a bi-annual children’s consignment event, kicks off Friday at Spring of Life Christian Church in Mesa.

With a base of more than 1,000 consignors, the massive sale features an estimated 35,000 pieces of merchandise.

“We are the largest consignment event in Arizona,” said Kristen Rumowski, one of the creators of The Savvy Sale.

Yetta Gibson went to Spring of Life Christian Church to get a preview of the event, the ninth one of its kind, and she was floored by the sheer amount of merchandise.

Everything available for sale is consigned by families looking to sell items their children no longer use or have outgrown.

“Moms from all over the Valley bring us their gently used merchandise,” explained Gretchen Laird, co-founder of The Savvy Sale. “We have 250 families participating this time.”

The Savvy Sales boasts incredible bargains on gently used items for children of all ages and mothers-to-be. Many of the items are actually new, still in the original packaging. According to the event website, shopper can save up to 90 percent off the original price on much of the merchandise.

“We’re very meticulous in what comes through. We screen it all,” Laird said.

You can find everything from clothes and toys to big-ticket items like strollers and car seats.

There are two Savvy Sale events every year – a spring/summer sale and a fall/winter sale.

The event also has what’s known as the “Mommie Boutique,” which features new, unique, handmade or custom items from 40 vendors.

The Savvy Sale will be held Friday, March 11, 1:30 p.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday, March 12, 8 a.m.-noon. Spring of Life Christian Church is located at U.S. 60 and Crismon Road in Mesa. For more information, visit www.TheSavvySale.com.
