Warm-up starts todayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The weekend is almost here, and spring-like weather is, as well.
Although spring doesn't officially start until the vernal equinox on March 20, warm and dry weather is here for at least the next seven days.
A ridge of high pressure will keep our weather pattern stable and our afternoon temperatures well above average. The average high temperature for Phoenix in early March is 75 degrees. Today, we'll top out more than 10 degrees above that at 86 degrees, and it looks likely we'll stay in the mid-80s through the weekend and into next week.
A few spots might see 90, which we typically do right around early April. The average first 100-degree day is in early May.
There's no rain or snow in the forecast for the high country during the next week. Temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s in higher elevations.
In the Valley, our overnight lows are forecast to start rising a bit over the next few days. Look for morning temperatures in the 50s around town.
This weekend's weather will be perfect for spring training games, and also for the 23rd annual Ostrich Festival in downtown Chandler. The fun starts Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday. Don't forget your sunscreen!
