PHOENIX -- A pregnant employee crashed her car into the principal's office of a Phoenix charter high school Wednesday morning.

The 21-year-old registrar was parking her car and apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brakes. The vehicle then crashed into Woods High School near 33rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

Principal Yolanda Johnson had just left her desk to go talk to a teacher and was in the doorway when the car slammed into her office.

"I heard the crash and could feel the glass hitting the back of my leg," Johnson said. "That's how close I was."

Johnson said she was a little shaken but did not receive any injuries.

It was the registrar's first day back at work after being on bedrest during her pregnancy. She was transported to a hospital as a precaution.

"I think she was more shaken up than she was injured because she was talking and everything when they took her to the hospital," Johnson said.

Woods High School is a business school of arts and entertainment and has 150 students.
