GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- The military is conducting an emergency response exercise Wednesday at Luke Air Force Base west of Phoenix. Some residents may see smoke and the base advises the public should not to be alarmed.
Luke and local fire personnel say crews will be practicing how to handle hazardous materials using new personal protective equipment from the Department of Defense.
The base says ambulances, helicopters and other first-responders may be seen around the base throughout the day.
The Daily News Sun reports the exercise began Wednesday morning and will continue through the afternoon.
Participants include local fire and police departments, as well
as medical and other agencies.
