Meet the Phoenix Zoo's stingray keeperPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- They used to be just seasonal visitors, but dozens of cownose stingrays will be calling the Phoenix Zoo home all year long.
April Warnecke spent the morning at Stingray Bay and introduced us to stingray keeper Jan Piling.
Like all rays, cownose stingrays are closely related to sharks and are often confused with sharks. When swimming their fins will break the water and it appears to look like shark fins breaking the surface of the water.
When you visit Stingray Bay, you can stand back and enjoy the view as they fly through the water or you can get up close and personal, even feeding the rays.
