Redington fire chars 15 acresPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Fire crews spent hours trying to contain a brush fire that broke out in Redington Pass early Sunday afternoon.
The blaze, which is still under investigation, scorched 15 acres of land. Three different crews responded and got the fire under control by close to 6 o'clock sunday evening.
The Forest Service says it's very early in fire season and the dry winter made the flames bigger than normal.
"Cause is definitely human caused, probably related to shooting but we do not have any suspects at this time, no lightning in several months here," said U.S. Forest Service Fire Management Officer Kristy Lund.
One crew and one engine will be sent out Monday to check for any remaining hot spots.
