PHOENIX – A man faces homicide charges after allegedly shooting and killing a man and wounding his friend outside a gentlemen’s club in Phoenix.
Police say the two victims were at the club getting ready to leave at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday near the 1900 block of N. Black Canyon.
The first victim met his ex-wife and was walking her to her car when the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Gabriel Rayos, approached them in the parking lot.
Detective say the suspect initiated a conversation with the victim and ex-wife which quickly turned hostile. The suspect allegedly took out his handgun and shot the man multiple times.
As the suspect ran to his car in an attempt to flee, the victim’s 34-year-old friend confronted him and attempted to take the gun away from the suspect. Both men fell to the floor during the scuffle and bystanders helped in detaining Rayon until police arrived.
The 34-year-old man shot multiple times died of his injuries. His next of kin has not been notified so his name has not been released. His friend suffered minor injuries.
Rayos faces first-degree murder charges.
