Small business forums in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Small business lenders and city governments directors gathered Thursday for a free forum geared toward aspiring small business owners.

City council member Regina Romero organized the event to help business owners with the resources that are now available.

The forum included tips on how business owners can sell to the city and opportunities with public housing projects.  About a hundred people attended the 2-hour forum, many of them business owners.

Small businesses currently make up about 89% of Tucson's economy.

And a similar event also took place in Marana Thursday.

The Marana Business and Economic Development Citizen advisory commission and the town's chamber of commerce joined forces to provide a small business open house.

The three-hour open house was held at the Wheeler Taft Abbett Library and offered about a dozen organizations which provide services to small business owners.

About fifty people attended the event in Marana.
