Scottsdale man sentenced in sex exploitation casePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A Scottsdale man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison in a sexual exploitation case.
Maricopa County prosecutors said Wednesday that Michael Raymond Ward, 38, also will serve lifetime probation for attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
Authorities say Ward was arrested after he confided to an undercover FBI agent in November 2007 about a plot to kidnap a Tucson woman and her 10-year-old daughter for a $4 million ransom.
When FBI agents searched Ward's home, they reportedly found a sexually explicit video of a 14-year-old girl who was the daughter of his girlfriend.
They say the girl was living with Ward while her mother was out of town. Authorities allege Ward had been molesting her since she was around 10 or 11 years old.
