1 Killed when car slams into parked semi truckPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. – One person was killed in an early morning wreck involving a semi Thursday morning.
It happened just after 2 a.m. on Glendale Avenue between Dysart and El Mirage roads.
According to Officer Gerald Sydnor of the Glendale Police Department, a Ford Crown Victoria that was westbound on Glendale Avenue near 127th Avenue rear-ended a Dodge pickup truck. After the initial collision, the driver of the Crown Victoria veered off the roadway and plowed into the back of the semi that was parked on the side of the road.
The driver of the Crown Victoria was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The two people in the pickup truck were not hurt.
Police have not released the names of anybody involved in the crash.
Investigators are not sure why the Crown Victoria rear-ended the pickup.
Glendale Avenue was closed for hours while police conducted their investigation. The roadway was reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
