Man shot multiple times when he discovers burglary in progressPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A man was shot multiple times after coming home and finding a burglary in progress.
Phoenix police said a 21-year-old man arrived at his home near 99th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
He drove up to his home and noticed the garage door opening and an unknown light-colored vehicle exiting.
"That car was actually inside the garage, door was down," said Phoenix Sgt. Tommy Thompson. "Officers have found there was some type of burglary taking place in the house when this occurred."
Thompson said the man walked up to the car to find out who was inside and was shot multiple times.
The suspects fled the scene and the victim managed to get to a neighbor’s house where they called for help.
The man was airlifted to a hospital where he is expected to survive his gunshot wounds.
"It's upsetting. We have, you know, an 18-month-old baby and a baby on the way and this is our neighborhood," one neighbor said.
Police are now looking for the suspects involved in this case.
