Explosion at Phoenix processing plant sparks hazmat situationPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A fire at a Phoenix warehouse sparked a hazmat situation for firefighters early Tuesday morning.
Fire officials said 911 calls started coming in just after 3 a.m. Callers reported hearing an explosion.
When crews arrived on the scene near 30th Avenue and Thomas Road, they found a working fire inside the warehouse.
A sprinkler system helped keep the flames under control until firefighters could get inside the building and knock down the fire.
Investigators said the business is some kind of processing plant, but they do not know what caused the explosion.
No injuries were reported.
