Two dead after four-vehicle accident in ScottsdalePosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Two people died in a four-vehicle collision near 60th Street and Cactus Road Monday afternoon.
According to investigators with the Scottsdale Police Department, a beige Toyota sedan traveling westbound crossed the center lane and struck a gray Kia sedan head-on at approximately 2 p.m. The Toyota then hit a Toyota SUV and a Pontiac sedan before coming to a stop.
All of the vehicles involved were occupied by only a driver.
The female driver of the Toyota SUV was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The female driver of the Pontiac was uninjured.
The drivers of the other two vehicles, both males, were transported to local hospitals where they were pronounced dead. According to police, neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Kia has been identified as Lynn Trinka, 50, of Phoenix. The Toyota sedan driver has been identified as Clifford Johnson, 70, of Washington state.
Investigators said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The roadway was closed for five hours during the investigation.
