Teen tied to residential burglaries arrested while eating stolen grapesPosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. – A teen suspect tied to at least three residential burglaries has been arrested by Tempe police.
Officers responded to the 1000 block of Santa Cruz Drive on Friday just before 1 p.m. after receiving reports of a burglary.
Police officers responding to the scene located a 17-year-old that matched the suspect’s description walking in an alley near Hardy and Santa Cruz drives.
Officers say that as they approached the suspect, he dropped a pair of latex gloves allegedly used in the burglary.
Police say the teen was eating stolen grapes at the time.
The teen was arrested near Hardy Drive and the Superstition Freeway after police identified him as a suspect in two other burglaries in the 900 and 1100 blocks of W. Manhatton Drive.
Police say the suspect admitted to the burglaries during an interview after being arrested. He is being held at the Maricopa County Juvenile Facility and faces three counts of burglary.
His name and photograph will not be released because the suspect is a juvenile.
