1 Injured in Chandler apartment fire

CHANDLER, Ariz. – One person is recovering after an overnight apartment fire in Chandler.

Fire crews arrived on the scene near Dobson and Ray roads at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

The three people who live in the apartment were able to get out on their own. One of those people suffered smoke inhalation and had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The fire was on the ground floor of a three-story building.

Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to adjacent apartments and get the situation under control relatively quickly.

While the apartment was destroyed, the damage was limited to the one unit.

It's not known if the apartment had working smoke detectors.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators do not yet know how the fire started.
