TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pima County Superior Court has a new presiding judge.
Judge Sarah Simmons was appointed to the bench in January 2006. Since 2009, she's been presiding a judge of juvenile court.
Judge Simmons was born and raised in Miami Arizona and is a University of Arizona graduate.
She takes over as the presiding judge of superior court for Jan Kearney.
And a twist in the case involving an ajo man accused of raping and killing a 7-year-old girl in June 2009.
Loretto "Kyle" Alegria, 21, rejected a plea agreement that would have sent him to prison for life, saying he deserves to die for what he did.
