PHOENIX -- A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by a car while riding a minibike in Phoenix Thursday night.
Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said the boy was riding on private property near 13th Street and Southern Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.
He exited the private drive and was traveling southbound across Southern Avenue when he collided with a Chevrolet sedan traveling westbound.
The boy was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Martos said Friday he is listed in extremely critical condition and continues to fight for his life.
The driver of the sedan was not injured.
The driver was evaluated for impairment at the scene. Martos said it has been determined that impairment was not a factor in the collision.
