PHOENIX – A person traveling on a motorcycle was killed in a wreck in north Phoenix late Thursday afternoon.

The crash took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. near 35th Avenue and Acoma Drive.

A man and woman were riding a Harley Davidson when they collided with a Kia Optima making a left turn.

The 54-year-old woman on the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

The woman's 56-year-old husband was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said neither victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The 33-year-old female driver of the Kia was evaluated for impairment and it was determined that impairment did not play a factor in the collision.
