New candidates emerging for Tucson mayor

TUCSON, Ariz. -- With the announcement from Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup that he will not be seeking re-election, competitors for the seat are already throwing their hats in the ring

Republican businessman Shaun McClusky, democratic attorney Jonathan Rothschild and former Pima County Supervisor Ron Asta are just a few names to announce they are running for mayor.

Wednesday, Asta explained why he's running.

"As a politician, as a planner and regulator with the government, and as a longtime member of the business community, I have all the skills and I know how to make things work and big adversarial sides together," said former County Supervisor Ron Asta.

Asta admitted some mistakes when he was younger including admitting to shop lifting a steak 33 years ago.
