Tucson water rates may rise again; Arizona Corporation Commission to review SWG outagePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- When the mayor and council meet Tuesday, they'll begin the discussion to again raise water rates.
They're considering a more than 8% hike for most users both next year and in 2013.
Many fees associated with water also could rise, including hookups and inspections.
And the Arizona Corporation Commission is set to review how Southwest Gas handled massive service outages in Southern Arizona earlier this month.
Commission members put the issue on the agenda for their meeting march 2 in Phoenix.
Some 14,000 customers in Tucson and another 4,500 in Sierra Vista lost natural gas service when a record cold snap prompted a huge surge in demand.
