1 Killed, 1 wounded in fight outside Phoenix barPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Police have released the name of the man who was killed when altercation outside a Phoenix bar ended in gunfire early Monday morning.
It happened at about 2:15 .m. in the parking lot of the Saddle Horn Bar and Grill near 23rd Avenue and Buckeye Road.
It started when a fight broke out in the parking lot. The situation escalated and small groups of people on either side of the lot opened fire.
Pedro Sanchez Galvan, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old Hispanic male who had been shot in the leg drove himself to the hospital. His wound reportedly was not life threatening. His name has not been released.
Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department said few witnesses stuck around to talk to police and no suspect information was immediately available.
Investigators did seize a vehicle they believe might be connected to the shooting and were awaiting a search warrant to process it.
No weapons have been recovered.
Detectives do not know what touched off the fight or the shooting. It's also not clear if those involved in the shooting had been in the bar. Crump said no problems were reported inside.
The investigation is ongoing.
