Phoenix police now investigating murder suicidePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Police are trying to piece together the events leading up to the murder-suicide of two men early Saturday morning.
Officers first responded to a shots-fired call in the area of 26th Street and Indian School Road at about 2 a.m.
When they arrived on the scene, police found a man lying in the road. He had been not only shot, but had suffered other trauma as well. That man, identified as Paco T. Parra, 27, later died at a local hospital.
The mystery deepened when a second man was found in the parking lot of an apartment complex about a block away from the first scene.
That man, identified as Rico L. Guy, 25, also died at a local hospital.
After the medical examination on Tuesday morning, the case is now being treated as a homicide/suicide, not a double homicide.
According to Sgt. Trent Crump investigators believe the two men got into an altercation in the parking lot and Parra shot and killed Guy and then fled on foot.
Parra is then believed to have sustained a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police are still not sure of the motive for the altercation or their relationship.
