PD: Man arrested after assaulting woman at Tempe restaurant

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police arrested a 25-year-old man after he reportedly assaulted a woman at a restaurant early Tuesday morning.

Tempe police officers responded to a fight at Rivas Mexican Food near Southern and Mill avenues at approximately 3 a.m.

According to police, Kenneth B. Medlin assaulted a woman after she slapped him in the face following a verbal altercation. The woman lost consciousness and fell to the floor, hitting her head.

A larger fight ensued, causing approximately $1,200 damage to the restaurant.

The woman sustained serious injuries.

Medlin was arrested and booked into Tempe City Jail. He is currently facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct.
